  I have to admit, this little guy did everything it was supposed to… I bought the white model, 3 cell with XP and it included the 8g sdhc card already in it (I love the feature where it combines the two sources to 16g) Solid state is great, can’t wait till it’s as fast as a spinning disc (all that wasted energy).

  Speaking of waste, Amazon, check the market. I picked mine up with the additional 8g of storage, and 1gig Ram installed for only 249$. Shop around, it’s worth buying but don’t pay more than double what the market is offering!

  I was worried about the battery life of my little mini laptot after reading some other reviews, so I considered upgrading to the larger battery. I am glad that I didn’t because the larger battery changes the footprint of the mini and makes it heavier. As it turns out, the battery life is great: between 3-4 hours. It also charges really fast!

  bought it on a whim… thought it would be a toy … now its an integral part of my life like my iphone and my car and my dog … all for under 300 bux … i recommend buying two , cause your mom needs a new computer thats sturdy and light , i mean come on you wouldnt even be thinking about buying a new laptop without your mom, so dont be a jerk and spend 300 on her. The 6 and 9 cell batteries are nice but add a bit to the price. two thumbs up . ten out of ten . epic win . (UPDATE: have had mine plugged in an running for 3 weeks with no discernible negative effects.)

  I was not sure how this was going to turn out, but it is better then I expected. It is light weight, fast, and has windows XP in it. I installed a few programs and us it all the time to and from work. I will highly recomend it.

  This gem of a MINI computer is the latest tool I use to manage my Calendar, surf the Internet, Memo writing and spread sheet analysis while on the go. I graduated from Palm Pilot to a Smart Phone and finally to this wonderful computer. I highly recommend this to anyone. As other reviews pointed out, the keyboard is a little difficult to use and would be much improved if there were a detachable stand to lift the unit up a couple of inches on a flat surface. (All the stores that have these Mini’s on display have little legs glued on. ) I highly recommend a mini wireless mouse for browsing.

  I can’t say enough about this netbook. I bought my daughter the smaller version for Christmas, and found myself using it so much that I ended up buying this for myself. I am upgrading to 2G of RAM — not really necessary, but video lags just a bit full screen - I’m hoping this will resolve!

  I was hesitant to purchase a netbook, it being so small and all…..but let me tell you. This is a little jewel! I love being able to take the internet with me wherever I go…..or not. Got me a 2wire modem/router and now I can just sit at the table w/hubby, drink our coffee, and surf the web. Or, curl up in bed and check out my message boards. Hubby likes it, too!

  Bought this netbook as a graduation gift for my son. Have owned an Acer laptop for a number of years, and made my decision to purchase this item based on my complete satisfaction with my Acer experience. I am confident that my son will be delighted with this product and hopeful that it helps him as he enters into the next 4 years of his education.

  It’s a great computer…I was able to get into it right away. Only, the MS software is only on it temporarily.

  Those of you who are considering a netbook you already know what it is. Acer, Dell, Lenovo, Winbook, and a couple of other companies have jumped into this new hot market. Considering how easy it is to transport and how functional it is I can see why.
  For netbooks, this one is great. It has the largest keyboard of the different versions and is very easy to type on. However, my black netbook has a very hard to push backspace button, but I’m hesitant to send it in becuase it usually takes three to four weeks for Acer’s repair depot to return your laptop.
  The screen is very bright and clear. For those of you who find that the resolution is too low and you can’t get all the text on the screen, here’s a tip: hook up an external monitor and restart the laptop. While the laptop has an external monitor active, you cand adjust BOTH monitor resolutions to higher thus more data displayed. Once you’ve increased the resolution remove the external monitor and you’ll permanently have more real estate on your screen.
  About performance. I don’t understand it. I have a high powered 1,500 computer at work with a 22″ monitor and that computer running Vista Ultimate Business takes four minutes to load! This little laptop that I’m using to write the review takes about one minute to load Windows XP then connect to the wireless network!? I do notice a difference when having multiple windows open. There’s a lag in performance and pages lag while scrolling.
  I have an activated Office 2007 for Home on this laptop and I can load spreadsheets, Word documents, and PowerPoint presentations. Although it’s not really fast, it does function and I’ve actually sent spreadsheets and documents to staff at work while on vacation via free airport wireless connections.
  The little guy comes with considerable bloateware and you have to uninstall it. I removed the Norton Antivirus which costs 60 a year and installed Avast which is free. I noticed better performance and haven’t gotten a virus in years.
  The battery life on this is outstanding. I can couch potato through a movie and two TLC What Not To Wear episodes my wife watches and still have an hour or two left of computing time. I always turn down the display brightness to the lowest level because the screen is inherently bright and sharp by nature, you’ll find the lowest level easy to read.
  Light? You bet. The office supply catalog at work is bigger and heavier.
  All in all a great value. If there are any technical issues make sure to get the laptop back to Amazon or the store within the first 30 days. Amazon has the greatest support of all the online stores, and living in Alaska we buy as much as we can from them since we live remotely.
  My wife has a pink version, I have a black one, and I have a spare white one with a 3 cell battery that’s waiting to be given to a granddaughter as a gift. That’s one last item. Make sure you get the one with six cell battery, the 3 cell battery lasts a skimpy 90 minutes.
  Great product, recommended if bought from Amazon.

  In addition to the many positive things that so many other people have written about this little powerhouse, I have a strange desire to tell the entire universe that I discovered this thing will actually play at least one 3D shooter. It is an older game which was released in 2000. It is called “Fur Fighters”. Laugh all you want at my choice of test game, but this little computer actually plays it without any kind of jumpiness whatsoever. Sure, the game is old and not as demanding as newer ones, but I have to admit that I am impressed by the quality of the graphics & smoothness of play. It never even occurred to me to try playing 3D games on it, until I read Intel’s spec. sheet on the graphics processor, which told about its 3D acceleration capabilities. I’m not sure if adding links to other web sites is permitted here, so all I can say is that if you’re curious about reading more of it’s capabilities, search for “Intel graphics accelerator 950″ in your favorite search engine and read about it at Intel’s page… or go directly to Intel’s site. I find it faster to use a search engine, but that’s just me.

  I probably voided my Acer Aspire One’s warranty by doing the following, but now it’s all nice & “geeky”.

  What I did:

  * Upgraded the memory to 1.5GB (which involves almost fully dismantling the computer)

  * Even though there was/is nothing wrong with the 160GB hard drive that came with it, I found a 500GB one that was on sale, so I bought it & installed it at the same time I upgraded the RAM. At the time, it was the highest capacity laptop hard drive available & probably still is at the time I am writing this.

  * Not liking the black keyboard (dark blue plus black? Yuck!), I ordered a new white one through another online sales service and slapped it in. I love the two-tone effect it gives, plus I think that it is easier to read the black print on the white keys, than the original white letters on black keys. Well, my eyes aren’t the best anymore, either…

  * Clear keyboard protector film. It fits perfectly & doesn’t interfere with functionality.

  That’s it for the mods & upgrades (for now). I’m still hanging-on to the original equipment, as spares, as if you really care.

  This tiny netbook really can handle more than just E-mail & web browsing, although it’s no speed demon, either. If you’re looking for blazing speed, spend more money on a bigger machine, if you feel like lugging it around. So far, this little ‘puter has been able to handle everything that I have thrown at it.

  This computer rocks! I use it up in my cabin and at Home it works great! You have to get an external drive to load software but it’s worth the money! It’s fast and it comes with a free mouse!I use my USB PC card and the antenna booster it comes with and Viola I’m on the Net! Great so far! Love it!

  [[ASIN:B001QFZFS0 Acer Aspire One AOD150-1165 10.1-Inch Sapphire Blue Netbook - 6 Cell Battery; I love the portability of this product and the powerfulness of the computer. I can do almost anything on this computer that I can do on my desktop except view T.V. programs of episodes that I have missed. Also the quality of the sound is not great and this disappoints me, but aside from that, this fits the objective that I wanted: a mini computer that is not heavy and fits in my oversize handbag and I can take it to seminars for taking notes. I can run pictures on the screen saver that I have taken and this delights me. And let me not forget the mini mouse! I love it! It is what I am used to using. I wish that I could find a mini mouse pad for it. Overall a great product.

  Great purchase. Very useful while waiting in doctors’ offices and elsewhere. Extremely good value purchase from Amazon.com; shipping was faster than expected. Only con so far, for my 75 year old eyes the font is a little small.

  I have only used the Mini a few weeks, but I have no complaints. Needing a professional word processor, I deleted much of the included software and loaded Microsoft Word Office Edition. While the flash hard drive is somewhat limited, it is more than adequate for my use. I kept the included image processor, and have found it to be ideal for the limited image processing I need in the field. Serious image work can wait for PhotoShop and the big computer. Meanwhile, I carry a complete computing system that weighs about what my big laptop weighs alone.

  Thinking about how much I have used the DVD writer in the field previously, I had planned to buy an external version, but so far, I have found external flash drives to be all I really need.

  This little laptop is perfect. It weighs only two pounds, looks good and has all the functionality you need for email, skyping, taking notes and checking on the net wherever a wireless connection is available. Battery life is about 3 hours. The webcam is not the best quality so you need to be in bright light for it to work properly. All said and done, this is a great little basic laptop for under $300.

  This is a very good laptop but sometimes it slows down and sometimes it goes so slow that it just stops loading that I have to shut it down with the switch. I was about to get the hp business notebook but I didn’t really need a disc drive and a very heavy laptop. I have a 1035NR model. It doesn’t concentrate on starting up and only takes 40 seconds to start up completely and 10 seconds to were it says Microsoft corporation windows XP. But I would give it five stars if it weren’t so slow.
