I bought this model to use for work after the great experience my husband had with an earlier version of one of these. What a mistake. Of all the models I could have bought, I bought the one that has a horrible hard drive, making it so slow it’s almost completely useless. This model has a known issue with the SSD hard drive–Asus admits it–that slows down performance TREMENDOUSLY compared to previous models. I’m not talking about a little lag here and there. I can deal with that. No, this is like 2 - 3 minute wait time to open anything, install anything, do anything. Believe me when I say it’s just awful. The only thing that fixes it is installing a new SSD, which starts at $70. Considering I barely had the cash for this machine at all, this was disappointing to learn to say the least. I am hoping to sell this somehow and get the 1002HA…though thanks to this experience I am definitely a bit hesitant.

Edit: It’s been sold on ebay. I have since bought a Dell Vostro 1310 from the Dell Outlet online, which came to about 500 clams. It’s only 4lbs, dual core, and cost about the same as some of the higher-end netbooks like the Samsungs. Yet it’s just as powerful as my desktop.

I spent MONTHS researching HP, Dell, Macs, etc. trying to find the perfect laptop. I am heading to college in the fall and really need something easy to use, but also advanced enough that it has all the features I will be needing. I heard negative comments for each of those brands, ranging from horrifically loud fan to a glare that prevents outdoor use to way to pricey for the product, respectively. Consequently, I had NO idea what to do. Then someone suggested looking into Sony and THANK GOD I DID!!!! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS LAPTOP!! It’s a perfect size, red is the perfect color (I had my doubts about it being too red, but it really is gorgeous), it works fantastically, the keyboard flows so well, it’s fast, it’s efficient, it was relatively cheap compared to others…it’s perfect!!! Overall I would suggest this product to anyone!!!

this Acer is light and capable of doing 1-2 tasks at a time. I work with DAc easy 13 POS and deal with abt 2000 lines of data in excell and this computer works well. vlookups are fast, ctrl h replacements are moderate (slow at times), sorting nice! highly portable. girls in the office love it to take to clients and upload. no cd rom comes with it but no problem just buy a 4 gb flash and throw everything from programs, pictures music etc. this computer runs ultra VNC, panasonic BL 131 cameras over the net and Dac 13 data uploads well at the same time.

for chatters its the best skype buddy esp if u like to walk around and chat. the cam qlty is 4-6 out of ten depends on what u are accustomed to.

msn, yahoo etc would seem to work fine but i have not tried them. skype calls to phone and pc are easy and with the built in cam and mic its extremely convienient to go places, connect to the net and orally chat (plus type).

wireless is fair with a linksys 150 N wireless router this acer can go all over a typical office floor (big floor 100X100 feet) and still be connected. but beware video skype calls and high dl will be dropped. close to the router everything works fine.

perfect for the home or office and those of u who love XP will be happy to know it comes with that.

4 out of 5 cause the cam is so so but everything else is fine. most ppl will buy this to orally chat and go on cam and also run around all over the place doing that.

The idea behind this product is good. However, it is really really annoying because I have to keep adjusting my computer - make sure it’s balanced… It’s way too small for my 16″ laptop. I’m seriously considering getting a different stand.

I really like using this netbook. It is perfect especially for travel. Something I noticed is unlike my full sized Dell laptop, the screen is bright and easy on the eyes even when you are using battery. Of course you can dim it manually but it doesn’t dim automatically when switching from plug to battery. Impressive price and pleasant to use. Good for reading on the couch or in bed. I bought it in anticipation of my laptop dying soon and will not have problems using it all the time when the laptop finally gives out on me.

I guess it was a good deal for the money? Seems to work alright, no instruction booklet came with the laptop, can’t get the internet working yet along with a few other issues…we’ll figure it out But…all in all, it’s a nice laptop and I have faith!
